About this poem
This poem was written in 2024. I remember I couldn’t sleep that night and really wanted to write something to express what I was feeling. I wrote this poem, but never published it—until now. It was May, and that day I realized again that I was in love. I wrote a lot of poems back then. I could have approached her and introduced myself, but I was afraid, I don’t know why. So I just kept writing poetry.
Today I wanted to write a post about it, but couldn’t find my old poems, so I wrote only what I remembered—and that’s enough. I still see her sometimes, but I’ll probably never tell her these lines are for her. It’s funny to remember now. This is my first post with a poem in Kyrgyz, but I hope there will be more.
Mini analysis
The poem uses the metaphor of the sea of love (“сүйүү деңизин”) and the concept of time (“жети күн” — seven days, “сегизин” — the eighth). The lines suggest that the feeling of love can extend time, making a week feel longer, or that love gives extra meaning to ordinary days. The poem is short, rhythmic, and uses simple but deep imagery, typical for confessional poetry. The use of repetition and the play on numbers (seven and eight) add a subtle poetic twist.
